SkillsUSA state winners are recognized for their superior workmanship and acquisition of high-level, technological occupational skills.
Northside ISD SkillsUSA students competed in automotive brakes, transmission, suspension and air conditioning repair technologies. Students also showcased skills for diagnosing and repairing computers, and a Construction Team constructed a structure from blueprints. And Cosmetology students performed opening and closing ceremonies using Parliamentary Procedure. A student in Electronics assembled a binary clock winning best in state and a photography student won second place for an on-site photography contest.
The goal of SkillsUSA Vocational Industrial Clubs of America is to produce quality, well-trained, entry-level employees by developing leadership skills and pride in workmanship in such areas as automotive service technology, automotive collision repair, cosmetology, construction, welding and electrical trades.
