American Scholastic Press Association and National Council of Teachers of English Literary Magazine Recognition

Parnassus, John Jay High School's literary magazine, earned several prestigious recognitions for its 2006-2007 publication. The American Scholastic Press Association awarded the magazine a first place award, an outstanding design award, and the overall title of "Best Journal-Format Magazine." In the award letter, the judge said the magazine was illustrative of "the efforts of talented and creative writers, artists, photographers, layout designers, staff members, and advisor." In addition to this high praise, the National Council of Teachers of English ranked the publication as superior in its competition. Honorees include:
