SUPERINTENDENT
NORTHSIDE
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Dear Patron,
It's hard to believe that another school year already is upon
us. I know the summer has blown by, but fortunately, we can look
forward to cooler temperatures and another semester at Adult and
Community Education packed with exciting and educational classes.
As you know, Northside is here to educate the entire community
- not just our young people. Our Adult and Community Education
Department offers some incredible enrichment opportunities for
people of all ages. In fact, we have more than 500 courses that
serve more than 25,000 residents.
Whether you need help starting your own business, building a
greenhouse, handling the stress of being a caregiver, or planning
a wedding, we've got a class for you at a price that won't break
the bank. If you're simply looking to acquire a hobby, please
consider taking one of our many cooking courses or picking up
a new language.
I encourage you to take a few moments to look through this course
catalog to find something to meet your needs. Courses are offered
at locations throughout the District, and I promise you there
is something here for everyone, at a convenient time and place.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation
to our students, staff, parents, and community members who all
play an integral role in Northside ISD's many achievements. I
am so proud that Northside recently was named a Recognized district,
a major accomplishment considering our size and diversity.
I also would like to welcome five new schools to the Northside
family: Brandeis High School, Vale Middle School, and Carnahan,
Forester, and Scarborough elementary schools. I wish everyone
the best of luck for the 2008-2009 school year.
Sincerely,
John M. Folks, Ed.D., Superintendent
